Here's something odd.
An executive manager at my company can't print PDF files with Adobe Reader to any printer other than his assistant's shared network printer in the room next to him.
He's using Windows 7 Pro with all the latest updates and no malware or spyware. In Control Panel >> Devices and Printers he has six or seven copiers listed (local TCP/IP ports). They are using the latest PCL6 drivers from Xerox's official website. Any document, when opened in any Office Suite program, will print with no problem. I'm also able to print out a test page if I wanted to.
When we go to open a PDF with Adobe Reader, the only printer that is available is his assistant's shared network printer. The printer share's permissions tab allows him access to this. It will print just fine to that particular printer. It just doesn't recognize any other printers.
Adobe Reader is configured to not open in protected mode. It has the latest updates. When calling Adobe for help they become very interested in our credit card.
I have deleted all the printers in Control Panel >> Devices and Printers. I have also gone into Print Management and made sure the ports are deleted as well. Afterwards, I navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\SYSTEM\\\\CurrentControlSet\\\\Control\\\\Print\\\\Monitors\\\\Standard TCP/IP Port\\\\Ports and make sure all the folders corresponding to the TCP/IP ports of those printers are deleted. I then reboot and then restart the Print Spooler. Afterwards, I uninstalled all Adobe products, as well as delete all three Adobe folders that are found in C:\\\\users\\\\username\\\\AppData\\\\Local, LocalLow and Roaming folders. I have made sure that the Windows Installer service is set to Automatic and is running. I rebooted again, reinstalled only the Adobe Reader...still with no printers configured yet in Control Panel >> Devices and Printers...and guess what? That shared printer is still showing up.
I have no clue what to do. This problem has prevented him from printing for three business days. After readding all the printers again, another issue occurs: in any Office suite program, when you try to print, you will get an error message that says that there are no printers configured. You can select any printer you want from the drop down menu, and its status will change from "connecting to printer" to "ready to print" or something like that, but it will not allow you to print. It will just say that there is no printer configured. I can still send a test page from the driver though. There is no default printer, and when you try to set any printer as default, an error code of 0x00000709 appears (Operation could not be completed. Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network). Both PCL6 and PS drivers just don't seem to work anymore.
Any insight into this would be appreciated. I'm considering the cost effectiveness of formatting and reinstalling from scratch as several hours of time have gone into this issue.
Thanks for your time,
Alexander
