I am trying to add a new printer to a server.
Scenario:
We had a printer on our server mapped to http://x.x.x.x That printer was offsite at a different business and their firewall was set up to allow traffic from us to the printer. It printed fine.
Recently, they installed a new printer and gave it the exact same ip address. They enabled http printing on the new printer. I can ping the IP address all day long. I can even connect to the printer administration web page by going to the http://x.x.x.xaddress from a web browser.
However, when I try to add a network printer and put in the http://x.x.x.xaddress I get "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation could not be completed"
Thinking this might be an issues with my one server, I tried it on several others. Same situation: I can ping the address fine and even connect to its web...
