in the past all clients connected to the printers by the TCP/IP device method.
This week I set up my 2008/64 DC as print server and connected two test clients to HP Laserjet 8100 PCL 6. With one test client I started a monthly print batch.
- selecting about 100 word documents in windows explorer
- right mouse click -> saying print
- generating an total output of about ~250 pages
In the past the pages were printed with high speed.
With the print server installation nowadays the printer paused between two documents. In total it took more than 3 times longer for the whole batch.
- DC/print server wasn't busy at all during the print job. (CPU/Hard disk idled)
- local/client print queue did not show more than 1 job at once (In the past it was heavily loaded)
My questions: Is this delay/performance a typical result of a...
