So I was in one of our printers' web portals and saw this under the security tab:
Job Data Persistence: Volatile (not persistent)
Never seen that before, so a did a Google search and added the model of our printer. What popped up were a few HP manuals that weren't of any help, then I saw "HP » Configuration Page - Device Status" as the fifth link. Went ahead and clicked it and was directed to the web portal for a printer similar to mine. Did a whois look up on the IP and it belongs to a state's public school computer network.
So out of the kindness of my heart, I printed a .txt file to them saying they should really consider getting some security gear, or at a minimum put their printer behind any gear they do have.
I know there was a big HP / Google hack thing a while back, but that was a very specific search. I was just searching for a...
