I know this is possible through Windows Server with a feature called Printer Pooling, and while that accomplishes distribution of many print jobs between 2 printers, the problem for us would be that we don't always have multiple jobs to print at once. With Printer Pooling, Windows just grabs the first available printer in the list and prints. This will lead to much greater wear and tear on the first printer in the group while the other one sits idle most of the time.
We need something that will make sure print jobs are alternated no matter if they are all sent at the same time, or with vast amounts of time between each job. I'm also hoping to find something that is completely transparent to users. If we have to install any additional software/agents on the workstations, then that's a deal-breaker.
