Strangest thing. OptiPlex 790 (current bios), Windows 7 Professional (fully patched), Siig parallel port, LaserJet 5 attached via parallel printer cable. I took this printer from another user on a Latitude 6520 with a docking station, so I know it works. The system saw the printer when attached and went through the normal process and I thought I was done. No printer. Tried to add it manually, would not accept default name as one already existed. So, I go to device manager, view hidden devices, and sure enough there it is. It does work, I can do a dirlpt1 and it prints the directory. We have another one of these printers on out LAN via a Jetdirect and I can install and print to that just fine.
