I have domain-joined Windows 7 machines connecting to a 2008 R2 Print Server.
Whenever the clients reboot (or the print spooler itself is reset), Windows shifts the default printer from the deployed network printers to a local printer, either the nearest one on the list or the first alphabetically.
Our Windows XP machines don't display this 'bug', but I can't find any specific work around either.
Do I need to add OU-specific Group Policy Preferences to force the 'default' option (which I assume will override any user printer settings?) or is there a kludge to beat the concept of 'REMEMBER YOUR DAMN PRINTERS!' into Windows 7?
Microsoft seem to often sporadic advice regarding 'setting terminal server settings' and 'Manage default printers', which is a laptop-only option for location-aware printing.
