Microsoft has released Office Lens, which was originally made available to Windows Phone users in March 2014, to iOS and Android devices. Office Lens turns any smartphone into a scanner – the documents can then be exported into OneNote for cross-platform accessibility.
According to Information Week, Office Lens senses the size of a document and cropping it accordingly. It then enhances the photo for readability and "identifies words through optical character recognition (OCR), so that users can search for keywords with the photo." Users have the option to save files as Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, PDF files, and JPG files. Office Lens also has the ability to scan business cards and import contact information into a user's contact list.
