I have an HP2055 installed on an HP 8300 workstation running Windows 7, SP1 and I cannot seem to get it to print through the local USB port for the life of me.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it using an older driver and the current one more times than I can count. The computer doesn't even see that the printer is connected. I have tried two different printers of the same model so I can rule out the printer itself. I have tried multiple USB ports as well as a new cable. The firmware is current. The print spool service is running. I've run out of things to check - I'm stumped.
So in the interim, I tried to see if I could network it. Who knew that would have worked? I plugged it into a network jack and set it up with the Windows native printer applet and haven't had any issues since.
