I've been seeing a lot of strange printing issues lately and this one takes the cake... Last Friday morning several HP printers in our environment stopped working and I found that the front panel controls were completely unresponsive. Here's the kicker... If I unplugged the Ethernet cable the front panel controls would start working again...
I swapped one with an older model, moved one to local only printing over USB . There are still a couple that are down and I'm trying to do a root cause analysis of the issue to figure out why this is happening.
I suspected our print server at first, but it's also occurring on printers that mapped locally via IP (bypassing the print server).
I am pulling error logs from these devices but there does not seem to be one consistent error message in any of the logs. What I have noticed is that...
