redirected printers?

Hello everyone,

Yet again I have another question about printers. Or, well, maybe not printers exactly but…

When I was working on setting up the wireless printer I was dealing with last week and yesterday I noticed that our file/print server has a handful of printers with names similar to;

on (redirected 2)”

I asked my boss about it and he wasn’t sure what they were about either. I’ll be talking to the networking guys about removing them. I found a post here on spice-works that explains how to remove them, so I’ll hand them that.

But, really, what are they, how are they made, and how can I make sure I don’t get these again in the future. Three of the printers like this were the ones I set up, so I think I did something I wasn’t supposed to.

Thank you for your help

DB

Edit: Oh, they also all show up as offline. which is weird, cause the printers that they claim to be redirecting are all offline and working properly.
