I need to start managing inventory. The spiceworks scanning inventory tool will not work as a lot of this equipment we would like to track is being deployed to restaurants in the field. We order LCD TVs, POS Equipment, HDMI cables, HDMI to DVI adapaters and other things that you couldn't even scan, on the domain or in the field.
My first reaction was to build a simple Access database or use some sort of generic app (like manually entering information into spiceworks), but that would require using serial numbers or some other piece of information off the item I would like to inventory.
Barcode scanners is something our stores use, so I thought of using a QR scanner off my phone (that silly square you can scan) and printing out QR labels.
Is anything like this built right into spiceworks or some other free/cheap app?
Any other inventory ideas that I am not considering?
