The endless HP1022n Print Loop

Rolled out a new HP Prodesk 600, Win 7\64. Installed a networked HP1022n printer... with the latest and greatest driver straight from HP's very on site for a Win 7 64 bit.

Everybody else on the network prints fine to this printer from XP machines... except this new Win 7.

When you send a print job it goes into a print spool loop mode and will print the same copy over and over until you pull the plug. Nothing else works to stop the printing. When the printer is unplugged, then and only then can you dump the Q on the workstation.

Tried everything in the book, every setting, in every privilege mode possible, removing the device, uninstalling everything associated, new driver, new port settings, etc. etc.!!! Nothing worked.

Found that the setting "Enable Bidirectional Support" had to be unchecked in printer properties, on the Ports tab.

This is so freaking lame of HP and their new driver for Win 7's. The driver for XP's is not affected by this setting, so you can't go by the driver settings for an XP machine.

If HP knows this, then why don't they fix the bug, or change the default setting in the driver for this setting to be unchecked when initially installed?

Oh yeah, and this simple fix the print issue turned into 4 hours of wrestling with this printer till we finally found the bug.

JEEZ!!!!
