Just curious what others are doing with their printers. I was looking a the Potential DNS errors in spiceworks and noticed quite a few of our HP printers showing up in there.
Currently when our server admin configures a new printer he configures it with a static IP and fill in the Domain field under the TCP/IP network settings, however i noticed that FQDN for the printer doesn't seem to get registered in DNS. I did a bit of googling and most posts talked about using DHCP and that it should auto register in dns.
what are others doing? we are using this with a print server, not straight IP printing?
