I have several large Konica copiers that are used for centralized printing at my company. One on each floor. Great machines. Way cheaper on a page by page basis over small lasers and ink jets. But, to cut costs, these are mapped from the server as a "Color" unit and a "B&W" unit. Black and white is the default. They point to the same devices. Just different defaults.
We pay monthly service based on average usage. B&W is X a page. Color is Y a page. Color being more expensive. Well, I got the bill for our overages and clearly someone decided they like everything in color. Reams of it.
The manufacturer does offer "monitoring" software to police my users. But, I wanted to see if anyone has a free or cheap utility that will tell me:
- Who is printing.
- What printer they are printing too.
- Pages counts.
Anyone have suggestions?
