I'm kind just kind of curious what factors besides parts cost people use to decide fix or replace. I always kind thought if it's a larger laser or something special then probably replace some parts, clean it unless it's real bad.
I was at the local college the other day and i found a nice3-4 yr oldoffice jet printer in the hall with a sticky said free scanner works printer doesn't. I thought a spare could be nice, or if can fix could be upgrade. Also see if it something i can get some practice with troubleshooting and fixing. I got home pulled out the cartridges, and the head. The head was caked up with ink. A few Q-tips and alcohol it started working to my surprise as usually they would fix these type things.
I would have at least looked it over and tried a clean before tossed it like they did. What do you or would you have done? If it...
