We have a Ricoh Aficio MP W3600 / Savin 3406WD, I have it configured to allow users to email scans through our Exchange server. We are a landscape design / construction organization and our scans are typically 200dpi 36"x24" line art of construction plans, packaged as a PDF or TIFF. One of my designers recently ran into an issue scanning a plan. What was different here is that the plan was a full color drawing rather than line art. Obviously a scan of a drawing like this would be a greater sized file, the problem is that it would error each time the Ricoh/Savin would try to send the file following a successful scan. Unfortunately the machine would give no additional information beyond'ERROR' in the scan logs.
