Hello everyone,
I’m new to Spiceworks. I’ve heard it about it in my previous travels, but never got around to taking the time to learn all the MANY detailed ins and outs of it. Just stated a new job and 1st project my manager hands me is asset management. 1st I ran it on my small home network to test/try it out.Found every device that I had connected to my router. I was able to log into everything but the Xbox and PlayStation. Ran the software at work on one of the sub-nets and it found many devices. Some they didn't’t even realize were still connected to the network. Played around with the setting even more, was able to find previous equipment that was coming up as errors and got even more detailed information.
I've been searching the forums and I haven’t found the answer to a question I was looking for yet.For some of our Canon image runner network printers I have the default user name and password as the log in. I am able to log in to the printer through the web based GUI, but when Spiceworks tries to log in using the same credentials it doesn’t work. I’ve tried logging in using HTTP, but Spocworks gives me the error message “getaddrinfo: No such host is known. ir-adv%204051”.
Can anyone point me in the correct direction? Thanks for any advice and so far from what I’ve read I am really liking this community. For a while there I really hated anything to do with computers.
