Hello community,
I'm in need for some advice to resolve a scanner issue.. so who better to ask than the experts here at Spiceworks! I apologize for any poor grammar I may be using..English wasn't my strong suit lol.
Here goes:
Recently I got a call from one of my users to help set up their Epson V300 scanner. Allegedly, when the scanner driver was installed using this link: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=113127&prodo... , for Windows 7 - 64 bit, nothing really changed. But, a new program was installed. The program installed was a product called Moozy. It is a radio station application -- similar to Pandora. And on top of that, the user still couldn't get the scanner to work properly. It appears in the Printers and Devices category, but no functionality. Even Action Center reports an incorrect driver is installed.
So I went to take a look myself. I uninstalled Moozy and rebooted. I brought the machine to the desktop and went to Epson's website for their driver. The same link as above. Even the user informed me that I was doing everything exactly as he had done. I figured that it was some bloatware that came attached with the driver and wasn't deselected, but after downloading and installing the software from Epson, I realized I was never even asked about additional programs being installed. I was given the option between a typical and complete option, but nothing in either one mentions Moozy. Regardless of which option I selected, I was in the same position my user was in -- no scanner working and Moozy installed in its place.
So to sum this all up, my question to you is: Have any of you experience this issue before? What is Moozy exactly? Is it potentially dangerous? And how can I get this scanner to work, if Epson's own drivers aren't working?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I will also be returning to his workstation tomorrow afternoon. I can provide a more detailed description then if needed. Thank you in advance everyone! Happy Help Desk!
